"Cyprus through the eyes of two French travelling artists, Louis-Francois Cassas (1785) and Philippe Delord (2004)" was hosted by the Leventis Museum in October 2004.
The Exhibition displayed for the first time in Cyprus , all the known works depicting Cyprus by Louis-Francois Cassas who was sent on a mission in the Ottoman Empire by the Ambassador of Louis XVI in Constantinople in 1785.
Parallel to these drawings over 120 contemporary works by Philippe Delord, who retraced Cassas' steps and discovered the exact locations of where his predecessor went during his stay on the island, were displayed.
The catalogue for the exhibition was a hardcover publication "Cyprus in the footsteps of Louis Francois Cassas" by Philippe Delord published by Gallimard Publishing house and Hathor Art Productions in French and English.
The Exhibition was organised by HathorArt Productions and the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia in collaboration with the French Cultural Centre in Cyprus, the Fine Arts Museums of Tours, the Cultural Foundation of the Bank of Cyprus, the Costa and Rita Severis Foundation and was sponsored by the Nicosia Municipality and Cyprus Airways.
